SignOn VRI in Legal Settings
Video Interpreting is an exciting development which allows Deaf and hard of hearing individuals communication access in settings where qualified in-person sign language interpreters are not an option.
This video clip is an example of how video remote interpreting (VRI) might look in a court setting. It is not intended to be an actual court scene but to help you visualize how VRI might look in that type of situation.
Using VRI in a court room, a doctor's office, or in a business setting would depend on the particular needs and circumstances of each event. Please contact us for more information on standards of practice regarding the use of VRI in these various situations. |

Video Interpreting can be used in a variety of situations:
- Staff meetings
- Medical - routine medical appointments, counseling, pediatrics
- Employment - interviews, training sessions, staff meetings
- Education
- Legal - court room, intakes, police, probation, juvenile, attorney-client

Instead of having an interpreter physically present with the deaf and hearing parties, the interpreter is located at SignOn’s offices and facilitates communication remotely, saving the cost of mileage, travel time, and two-hour minimums. Use your own video device or choose from a selection of SignOn tested and approved video/audio equipment.
Interpretation may be arranged in advance, or requested on-demand.
